Another eGo-T with Burnt Taste

So I'm trying to figure out how to fix my issue here, but everyone's talking WAY over my head with all the jargon (mods, cartomizers, atomizers, ohms, resistance, voltage....what?!?). As far as I know, I have a battery & a tank. Beyond that, I need some hand-holding, lol

I bought an EgoT online less than a month ago (black battery that says "eGo-T", came with a tank w/ a wick that you cannot disassemble - Unfortunately, that's all I know about this thing...) and I started to have issues with it tasting like poo. I cleaned everything, dried out the tank, tried again: Still tasted like poo.

I went to a local shop, bought new wickless tanks (I'd been told that this is often due to issues with the wick, so I figured "remove the wick, remove the problem"), and the issue seemed to have been fixed...for about a week - max. Now, again, it tastes burnt.

I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong. I've dug through google (and subsequently, this forum), tried all the cleaning methods, etc. Nothing works.

I really don't want to hear that I bought a dud vape and have to buy a new one, but I feel like that's where I am :(

Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Are you chain vaping? How are you filling your tanks? From what I'm hearing just sounds like you have a standard CE5...those tanks are well entry level. People are asking you those questions because it helps identify the issue at hand. You can't just jump into vaping without using the basic terms or understanding the basic jargon.

If you're hesitant on asking your B&M there are plentiful of knowledgeable people here.

I know how you feel, I felt that way one month ago. Quick search on forum and google could really help you in terms of learning terminology, it is not complicated at all, basically just 5-10 new terms and you will understand what everyone is talking about.

Now about your problem...
I experienced same problems. I burnt 2 CE4 clearomizers (plastic tanks with wicks on both sides) and for me one lasted approx. 7 days and I didn't smoke a lot. Those are really entry level clearomizers (tanks) and they cost too much. Cheapest and best option for you would be buying better tank that has coils that you can easily change when taste starts being nasty. I switched to kanger protank3 and I am pretty happy with it but yet I have new problems like flooding etc.
No fix really when they start tasting burnt, at least I couldnt make them taste better...
Its a jouney, you have to learn new things as you go :)

Mini Protank 2 all the way. I would say it's the best tank on the market right now :)

Are you chain vaping?

Nope...I usually only take one or two hits at a time, and I try to space them out by at least 15-20 seconds or so.

How are you filling your tanks?

I hold my tank at about a 45* angle, and put the tip of my juice bottle as far in and to the side as I can. Slowly squeeze, and rotate the tank a little as I do (it seems to help the juice flow downward - although this could just as easily be a placebo-type effect)

From what I'm hearing just sounds like you have a standard CE5...those tanks are well entry level.

Best I can do is try to describe it for now...my cell's dead and I can't post a picture (will when I get home from work, though)

It's a blue plastic/acrylic/something tank, same outer shape as the original that came with the vape. The interior of the tank appears to be a metal cylinder with 4 holes (two on opposite sides) and containing what looks to be another metal cylinder. I was told by the guy at the B&M store that there's no wick, and that it draws from the bottom.

Edit: Further research - It looks as though I have a CE5+/CE8 clearomizer.

People are asking you those questions because it helps identify the issue at hand. You can't just jump into vaping without using the basic terms or understanding the basic jargon.

I do get that, and I *am* reading up on these things - it's just a bit intimidating to try to find help as an absolute beginner when it seems that everyone talks to you as if you've been doing it for years, lol.

[removed link so I could post]

Cool, thanks! I'll add this to my reading material :)

Sorry for the 'language berrier' I've been vaping for 9 mo and still have to do a lot of WTH is that. A picture is worth a thousand words.
All vaporizing equipment (tanks) require a wick and a heating coil to work. The wicking material may change from string(s) to a fiber filled tube. Wicks absorb the e-liquid and places it in contact with the heating coil. When the Fire button on you battery is pressed the heating coil gets very hot vaporizing the e-juice. And all is right with the world.
When sufficient e-juice is not provided to the heating coil the result is 'overcooked' e-juice, which tastes burnt. And the side effect of that is a residue is left on the heating coil and surrounding wick material. So, the burnt taste stays. With a variable voltage battery turning the voltage down at the first hint of burnt taste can prevent the lasting burnt taste.
The manner in which you vape can also cause burnt tasting vapes.
Chain Vaping - Repeated deep vapes. This equates to smoking a cig very quickly i.e. smoking two cigs on a ten minute break at work. Chain vaping will cause the e-juice to be used up faster than the wick can bring it to the heating coil. Long slow draws ((3-4 seconds) with a few seconds between them is the ticket.
Vaping The Tank Dry - Don't Do It. Tank should be about 1/4 full minimum
Maintenance - Since the heating coil vaporizes the e-juice it will eventually build up residue. The rate of this build up is based on how you vape. The fix is either replace the atomizer head or clean it. Youtube has several videos on cleaning atomizer heads. I suggest changing/cleaning the atomizer head once a week for a normal vaper. While a heavy vaper may require a change after 2-3 days

If your clearo is not disassemble-able, then it's probably a CE4.

I had 2 of these in my starter kit. One lasted less than 48 hours. The other lasted until some mini Vivi Novas arrived.. :)

The rest is history.... it's been a downhill run of spending ever since. :)

If you got a wickless clearo, chances are it was the CE8. I thought they were disappointing but some people love them.

another question to answer, are you using pg, vg or pg/vg mix? full vg is quite thick and might not wick fast enough, even that far apart. probably worse if it is cold. i have a twist as well and at the same voltage setting compared to my vamo, it creates a massive cloud. i've never bothered to check the voltages of the twist. to see if it's putting out what they say it's putting out. it could be putting out more. cheap juice? hard to say really. i make my own coils and usually pretty hot ones at that. 1.2 1.5 ohm using a 2:1 pg/vg mix and i don't seem to have much of a problem at all

So I think the problem ended up being a burnt coil.

Seeing as my eGo had already paid for itself, and I'm the kind of guy who dives head-first into a new hobby - I decided to hit up a local vape shop & purchased something a little more advanced.

My new setup is a Itaste VV (3.0) with a Protank3. I plan on replacing the Protank base with one for an Aero when the shop gets some in later this week (I got the PT3 instead for the look only - once I heard I could essentially make it into an Aero, That's where I decided to go)

Anyway, my point in announcing this is that I'm SO much happier now that I can play around with my voltage/wattage and experiment. Everything seems to be working well so far.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help!
