Aegis X issues

So my parents sent me a used Aegis X to have for christmas cause my old mod got screwed up. They told me I had to update some firmware or something but when it arrived the screen work perfectly fine with no problems. Then it started cutting out and not working at all unless I plugged it into something and now its firing but the screen is not displaying anything just brightening up slightly, sometimes it would show black and white lines with static but thats it. I've tried taking it off stealth mode by holding down all 3 buttons and I've tried looking online for firmware but there is nothing that is even allowing me to download the firmware software to my computer. Any simple fixes?

Hi @IAmGamerFun and welcome to ECF

One of our members posted about issues with another Aegis mod. I would try his suggestions on your mod. Link: Aegis Troubleshooting. If those suggestions do not work then in all likelihood your Aegis X is hosed. Return it for a replacement.

Also, why bother updating the firmware??? There really is no need to with GeekVape products. I own a few OG Aegis Solo's and never updated the firmware.

If you get your Aegis X working then try it 'as is' - - - if it vapes as you desire, I expect it will - - - don't mess with the firmware.

Okay.

Take the USB cable, plug it into your computer and then your mod. Try it with known good batteries in the mod.

After a couple seconds the battery charging symbol should show up on the screen.
While it's conected via USB try clicking the Fire Button five times to turn the mod on.

If it does not turn on, then your mod is hosed and should be returned for a replacement.

I've been able to bring back one of my OG Aegis Solo's that would not turn on via that USB trick. I suspect plugging it in via USB refreshes the Aegis logic board.

Alright I tried that and this is the result. I don't think its damaged as I've been very careful not to drop it or knock since it first showed up in the mail and my parents packed it up nicely and wrapped in bubble wrap and paper. And it was working perfectly fine when I first got it. Prior to this the only glitch that would happen is it would not fire unless it was plugged into something and if I unplug it and leave it sitting for a bit then I would have to plug it in again to get it to fire.

Your screen is fried. Hopefully you can return it for a replacement.

Someone on reddit had a similar issue. Here is a photo of their screen.

It's a total bummer but sometimes new gear does fail.

Damn, thats unfortunate. At least the mod still works but yeah no chance of replacing it or warranty. They live out of state and I on't know how old the mod is lol

Just to make 100% certain...

You tried the Factory Reset??? If you did, try it again.

• Hold the + and – keys simultaneously until the firmware screen appears. 3-5 seconds.
• CONTINUE TO HOLD the + and – keys, and hold down the fire button.
• The factory reset will complete after this.

With the screen being hosed you won't see the Firmware screen.
Just continue holding down the + and - keys while holding down the Fire button for a good 10 seconds.

Then try your mod again. If the screen is the same, displaying garbage, then your mod is hosed.
