I have read that you can use everclear (PGA) to your juice to give it more of a throat hit. I was wondering if anyone has done this.

If you what are the measurements for it? Meaning..lets say you have a 20ML bottle of DIY juice have many drops / ML's would you add to give it a good kick?

Thanks in advance for any advise..

Depends on the original juice, since the alcohol is going to thin it. I have used it to thin my VG-only juices, at about 10%, so if a mL = 20 drops (roughly, but does vary), and you have 20 mL juice originally, about 40 drops will give about 10% volume. I don't use drops though, as they are VERY inaccurate and vary with the liquid. I use a syringe, so about 2 mL alcohol.

But if you are adding to a PG juice, which is already thinner than a VG juice, MAYBE 5%. I would take out about 5 mL and add the alcohol to it a couple drops at a time, and drip it to check. You are trying to balance between vapable but with good TH, and too thin to vape well.

Does 100% PG have problems wicking? PGA doesn't seem any more runny than PG alone... but I always mix 15-20% VG anyhow. I swear I've seen people say they add up to 20% PGA too, but 5-10% seems about the norm and I haven't even gotten any everclear yet.

What do you think about a 40% VG, 20% alcohol, 40% PG/PG flavorings mix Kurt? I forget who said they have tried stuff like brandy/whiskey/rum, but I was thinking it might work good with some recipes.

everclear is good for mixing things like tobacco absolute and ethyl maltol. You could use regular vodka or any other pga to mix the actual juices, (vg in it's original state is very thick and it is for that reason most people thin it with water ,pga, or pg. I've read that adding a higher proof pga such as everclear may help with the throa hit, I haven't personally found this to be the case.

I have not had any real wicking issues with 100% PG in the past when I 1st started vaping....but I can not do 100% PG...I usually thin my DIY juices with 10%-20% of VG content not whole bottle volume. Ie...10m total---80pg/20vg....= .2 -.4ml PGA

On average VG has a density of 1.2, PG 0.9, PGA 0.8, water and nicotine is 1. If we were to compare PG and VG, VG's density is 25% greater that PG. So diluting at 20% with distilled water is well within the norm. Now I could fart around and dilute my VG to replicate PG, but that becomes just too cumbersome and takes the fun away from it. Considering that the majority of flavours are either suspended in PG, distilled water, alcohol or a combinations thereof, it is a moot point.

I agree with Seth. Although I can feel a difference with it in liquids rather than not (I prefer not) PGA does not deliver the "thump" so to speak rather a certain scratchy feeling on the inhale. At this point in time I only use it in "alcoholic beverages" liquids as in Buttery Nipple @ 1%.

I add a little alcohol (usually vodka) to my diy juices for TH. The formula I use is generally 75% PG, 25% VG, 20% flavor, 5% alcohol. Obviously, that varies depending on the flavor I'm using. I find it gives a good, harsh TH on the first few vapes, but eases a bit as I continue vaping.

However, I'm still pretty new to vaping and DIY, so YMMV.

I use pretty much the same mix and with out the PGA I get little to none TH. Everclear is to harsh to me but I do use Absolute Vodka at 80 proof. To me it is just right.

Do you feel added throat hit from that small amount? I felt I got a decent amount from just a few drops TFA Champagne, but then I see people saying they don't get anything at all. I mix like 15-20% VG too normally, but was just curious about Kurt's comment about juice being too runny.

Like Seth and Switched said.....I dont know if there really is a TH sort of thing added....but, PGA does alter the flavor a bit, and perhaps vaporizes quicker than the other liquids...TH for me I think is more a result of nic content and certain flavorings.

I use it more to just thin the VG for wicking needs....and the added bene of a sort of sterilizing effect since it is after all an alcohol...

I wouldn't mind knowing a little more about this, I am going to go buy some everclear and play around with it, only going to use VG as common sense tells me PG will be too thin for this. I have heard it gives a much better TH.

Depending upon what state you live in, everclear may or may not be readily available in the 190 proof version. I"m in Washington, one of the states banned from it's sale. Doesn't mean I don't have any ;) But the last time I was in a liquor store around here I saw they had a 151proof everclear, which surprised me since I read about it being banned. But that might be good enough for an experiment.
