I have an unflavored e liquid with no nicotine and its all vg. From my understanding all I have to do is add the 10-20% flavoring. My question is how do I know how much distilled water to thin this mix out. Thank you!:D

So basically, you have VG.

flavoring is 1% to x% depending on the flavoring. You have to know. There's no rules.

Water....start by added a couple of drops in a small bottle of your VG. The flavoring will thin it too. Shake well. I'd stay under 10%. Make sure flavorings are safe for vaping, and that the VG contains no other ingredients or fragrances. This is all probably true if you purchased from an e-cig vendor.

I have used tap water with no ill effects. I did this for a few tanks only. If I had wanted to continue to use water for a longer period of time I would have bought distilled water. It's cheap and has no chemicals added.

Distilled water has, by the process of distilling (turning water into steam and then recondencing it back to water) lost the mineral content. Mineral content is the stuff you see in the bottom of the water receptacle of your coffee maker, and it will also kill your clothing iron (cakes up the insides).

so that is why you use distilled water in making juice. It is kinder to coils/atties and doesn't leave behind mineral residue.

I agree with ^^^^^^ logically.

In practicality, I use tap water and I even have hard water. My rationale: 1) Coils don't last 20 years like irons, 2) I clean em with tap water too and 3) it's far easier and that counts for a lot. I do blow the water out after cleaning though and only use a little in the juice. The other juice ingredients gunk the coil a lot faster.

It depends. If you're trying to keep an atomizer going for 6 months, use only distilled. If you toss it every month or two, use whatever you want. Cartos and such...don't last that long to worry about.

Easy tip: If you only need a few drops of distilled water, collect some on the lid of a pot of boiling water. Easier, since gallons of distilled are only good for a few weeks once opened (bacteria).

Exactly right Racehorse. Distilling also gets rid of added chemicals in the water supply. But I have used city water for a few tank-fulls to test things out successfully with no issues :thumb:

I buy all my juices from MBV. They are 70% VG 30% Distilled water:vapor:

When you say 'MBV', are you referring to Mount Baker Vaper? I just found the site.

That's the first time I've ever heard of a 70-30 VG/Distilled water. I'm new to vaping so this is interesting to me. I like the idea very much! So it is safe to have a water percentage 10-30% in juice with VG?

What's exciting me is the ability to cut some of these few flavors I do like. In another post I asked for recommended vendors on tobacco flavored juice to cut a couple of my favorite dark and heavy juices. I'll be dropping 2-3 drops of distilled as well.

That reminds me, using 18% nic tobacco flavor VG to cut another 18% nic favorite juice still yields 18% nicotine or less right?

Keeping that one of a kind flavor but turning down the volume overall.

Racehorse and AttyPops, thanks for expounding on the water whether DI or tap. A real relief I can keep these couple of flavors and just dilute as we've discussed. Don't want to think of not having that option and craving those flavors.

This will certainly work as my initial trial at diluting yielded a tolerable and very pleasant carbon copy version of original strength flavor.

Ya'll have been a great help. Oh the happiness!
