Welcome newbies & veterans alike. We realize that some people might get confused by the myriad of acronyms floating around ECF, and we understand the confusion. Mainly because it IS confusing!

Some have likened it to reading a foreign language forum, which is an excellent point. Only a few of the most popular acronyms (such as “APV”, “PG”, “VG”) are included in the ECF software. If you hover your cursor over these underlined acronyms, you will see the definition.

But what about all the others?? For example, “WAP”. What does THAT mean??

Welp, we are here to help bring some understanding and definitions to these persistent, pesky, and perplexing acronyms.

So without further ado -

Ladies & gentlemen, we are gathered here today to join these two together, for all of eternity and till death do them part. Acronyms & Translations, living happily ever after.

We have created a spreadsheet, that is open for editing to anyone so inclined to contribute. This will be an open-source document in which anyone can make additions or changes (for better or for worse…).

We do hope this serves to help everyone understand a bit more of what they are reading while here on ECF. So learn, add, contribute if you like, and by all means, have fun with it!

vape happily and proudly.

(And now you may kiss the acronym) ;)

Wow, thanks for doing this. I'm the one who posted that this was like a foreign language forum when I first came here. It too me quite awhile to figure out a lot of the acronyms, so I know a lot of newbies are having the same problem. I've been here 2 years now and I saw quite a few on your list already that I didn't know.:)

In automotive parts business, WAP means With Attaching Parts. Who the heck knows what it means around here. Most of them seem to be made up on the spot, and probably take longer to dream up and capitalize than the full expression, anyway.

While you're at it, Kat, maybe we could start capitalizing specific brands and models. Could save a lot of confusion right there.

the first thing I looked for on that list was "mod" -- this term still baffles me. I always assumed it meant "modified" as in "customized by the end user" but I constantly see/hear people referring to a standard, off the shelf, exactly like the other 1000 on the shelf, battery thingie as a "mod". I've never modified mine, it looks just like the 1000s of others that were sold by that manufacturer. In fact I've only seen a few on the internet that appear to have been modified by the end user.

So - is this definition of "mod" in the spreadsheet correct? Or am I behind the times already?

Thank you for starting this. I will bookmark it to come back to later when I get confused about something else LOL.

I like it, I should probably use more of these, but I generally use an iPad and it doesn't seem to be behaving with these linked acronyms. They are underlined with a dotted line and look like they will do something, but I can't click on them. If I need to use something other than Safari then what is it, I use TapaTalk for some forums because it's easier to post pics, but I can't seem to get it to find ECF.

Yes, Ms. OLinda. I saw your post and I do hope it's fine with you that I paraphrased it! I thought it was great! I had the same prob over the years with ECF's little monikers for this, that, and the next thing.

I also (and I wonder how many will be nodding their heads for this statement) did not wish to ask what various acronyms meant as I thought I might be the ONLY one who didn't know.....

WAP or Wap, in our world, is Wapari. And you're so right, Nermal. The initials come out of nowhere, and QUICKLY. How can we read if we don't understand the language at hand?

I'm not quite sure what you meant about me being at it in terms of capitalizing specific brands and models. Do you mean in the Google doc? If so, PLEASE feel free to have your way with it! It's an open doc for anyone to amend, edit, add, delete...... whatevs! :D

We're hoping it's truly a collaborative effort. :)

Thank you, buzzlove, but whilst tipping, tip one to DPLongo. He is my partner in crime, and various other sordid endeavors. ;)

Thank you Katdarling! This should be a great help to new and veteran members alike.

We hope so, Cheech! And we're both hoping it will be fun for people, too!

Good question, KattMamma! I learned the definition initially as modification, but later it seemed to be used for all devices above and beyond cigalikes. Some of us were old skool enuf not to enjoy the acronym "APV", and just stayed with mod.

Feel free to put in your own definition if you like! I cannot speak to the correctness of any that you see there. This is a living, breathing entity.

On Tapatalk try searching for "E Cigarette Forum" (without the quotation marks but leave the spaces between like I have typed it ;) ) It should show a picture of a hand holding an e-cig with ECF across the top portion of the picture. That's the one I use for this forum on tapatalk.

Just hoover over them (no clicking required) and a box will pop up telling you what it is.

Different on iPad. Those dotted lines only show as dotted lines under a word. No mousie, no clickie. No way to hoover over :(

No problem at all, Kat. I'm delighted that you did this and if my post added a little impetus to getting this going, I'm happy to hear it!

I definitely can relate to not wanting to ask what something meant. When I first started, it probably would have derailed a lot of threads if I kept making post after post asking what something meant. Your spreadsheet is a great place for people to go. I hope they sticky it so it's easy to find.
