Hello all. I'm new here and was hoping I found the right place to get some good advice. On Jan 1st I purchased my first e-cig from my local 7-11. This was my first step in quitting smoking cigarettes and I thought I was headed in the right direction. After about two weeks this thing just didn't work anymore and I went back to where I purchased it. They said I mustve broke it(?!?!?!) and told me I would have to purchase another. Well I did that and now here we are two weeks later and the same thing has happened again.

I decided to go to the internet for help, but I've been overwhelmed with the amount of different e-cigs and flavors and catridges and everything else. Right now I just want a simple solution that isn't going to break in two weeks and is fairly affordable.

Can anyone make any suggestions?

Thank you in advance.

good morning and welcome to ECF! my suggestion would be to purchase a JOYE 510 model. You can buy a no-box standard kit from Vicky at Cignot.Com for 35.00. These work well if you like an a cigarette looking device. The downside is the battery last about two hours, so you have to constantly have one on the charger. I guess that's about the same as what the 7-11 battery life was like. Now If you don't care about the looks than just move on to the JOYE ego. it's 59.00 at cignot. either way, your gonna get a kit that comes with two units. The ego batterys last around 6.5 hours. Good Luck.

p.s you also need to buy liquid for the cartridges. email Vicky and she'll walk you through it all

Welcome to the ECF. You have come to the right place for information. I too started with an E-cig from 7-11. The xhale02. It was a good place to start as I didn't know if the E-cig thing was for me and I wanted to try it out at a low cost before I made a real investment. Then I made a mistake. I ordered an overpriced kit from GreenSmoke.com. The unit actually worked pretty good however after finding the ECF, I realized that the same stuff could be purchased for about 1/3 of the price. First thing I recommend is that you read this guide to e-cigs here The Wonderful World of Vaping | Vaping Guides. Then when you are ready to order, check out these suppliers/vendors that many ECF members like: Forum Suppliers List. I Hope this helps you. Again, Welcome to the ECF and Happy Vaping!!
BTW, I ordered the Provape1 from ProVape Electronic Cigarette Battery Mods, Atomizers and E-Cigarette Accessories and could not have been happier.[/QUOTE]

For a beginner I would suggest the eGo or Riva 510 or the VGO 801 models. Get a pack of blank carts, 3 or 4 small bottle of e-liquid you think you would like to put into the blank carts. The prefilled carts tend not to taste good and are way more expensive in the long run. Get an extra atomizer and consider getting a pack of 5 blank cartomizers. I strongly suggest starting with 24mg nicotine strength e-liquid in order to make the transition to vaping. You can lower the nicotine strength of a liquid but you CANNOT make it stronger. ONLY use manual batteries (small button) NOT the auto batteries.

Liberty Flights has a 20% off sale and is a reputable supplier: Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Joye eGo

The supplier with probably the biggest selection and also well regarded is: Nhaler

Good Luck

If you want a cigarette form factor (skinny), automatic battery (works by inhaling, instead of pushing a small button), then a KR808D-1 automatic kit is nice. You can start with pre-filled cartomizers (combines the fluid and heater into something that looks like a cig filter), keeping it ultra simple. If you smoked, or vape, a lot, get a kit with something called the XL or Mega batteries, which last noticeably longer between recharges.

NHaler, vapor4life are a couple of good choices for 808 kits -- vapor4life has a huge prefilled cartomizer selection, and NHaler is deservedly popular. A bit lower cost, but good product and some good liquid, is vaporsetc.

The above vendors all have discount codes.

If you don't mind pushing a button, and tended to smoke a lot, and don't mind filling your own liquid right from the start (not that hard), then the Riva 510 kits from liberty flights are a super price -- $30 for a kit with two 750 mAh batteries, after using the discount code they post there. For them I personally still like cartomizers, use what are called the boge 2 ohm 510 cartomizer -- available from liberty flights, litecigusa, nhaler, other places. These are blank (empty) cartos, so you will have to fill them yourself with liquid that you buy; most people do this (fill their own) after a short time, to save $ and open up their choices for liquid, it just depends on if you wish to do this yet.

Good luck!

how much do you smoke, what kind of cigs (full strength, lights, etc)

for reference
3-piece ecig = battery+atomizer (atty)+cartridge (cart) - carts push onto the atomizer
2-piece ecig = battery +cartomizer (carto) - cartos screw onto the battery

If you were happy with the 7-11 cigarette - was it is Njoy Npro? The 2-piece? if you liked it then I recommend KR808D-1 with manual batteries. Autos are generally easier to break if juice leaks from the cartomizer. And manuals generally give more control over your hit and are less work.

KR808D-1 (available at Vaporleaf.com, LiteCigUSA.net and others - LiteCigUSA has nice blanks - the Premium Soft-caps)
Or in nicer colors at Vapor4Life.com or Bloogplanet.com (Vapor4Life has the most prefilled cartos and has blanks too)

That is the most recommended and most supported cartomizer unit

If you want some thing with longer battery life (like 6-8 hours+) and ability to use low resistance parts for a bigger hit etc, then look at the 510-based fat battery PVs like Ego, Vgo, Riva 510 (use atty+carts or cartos - less prefills available than for KR808D-1) or the KR8 fat battery model CigEasy's Elegant Easy

BTW most cartos of the basic original models are refillable, obviously all blanks are

Compares 510 and KR8

I also started with the xhale o2 from 7-11, and I am now using kr808's/mods with ce2 clearomizers. I had the same problems as you with the xhale units, but my 7-11 was a little more forgiving in honoring the warranty on them.

The xhale o2 are m401 clones, btw, but they are not 100% compatible. Some 401 attys and the new ce2 401 clearomizers won't fit quite right because the threaded tip on the xhale battery isn't long enough to make contact. I found that out the hard $$$ way, just thought I'd pass that along.

NorCal - The place to be!
eGo eGo eGo! Uses attys, cartos, mega attys,Tanks, adapters to use anything else out there in the carto/atty world. Can't go wrong with an eGo.

I'd get an eGo-T at cignot and upgrade the batts to 1000mah for $4 a piece. Very reputable place and Vicki is a total sweetheart! She even puts cute little hand drawn pictures on the invoices, a nice little personal touch.

When I ordered my eGo-T from cignot it was packaged and shipped out in 25 minutes! Seriously! It only took 3 days to get here and I live on the other side of the country. Cignot is amazing.

That is the exact same reason why I started researching e cigs in the first place. I saw the NJOY at 7-11 for $20 and thought to myself what a great deal the mall stands sell them for $170. So I started doing my research online and found that NJOY itself is a great company but the NJOY product 7-11 is a dud. So then I really started getting in depth in my reseach, finding what models are the best, how to maintain them, battery life, how to fill them and so on. On this past Monday I purchased the Joye 510 No Box starter kit for $35 at cignot.com along with 3 5ml bottles of e liquid from liberty-flights.com (which came to $10 with shipping and handling). Total I spent $50 for 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 carts, a charger, and 3 bottles of e liquid! GREAT DEAL! I would suggest getting the Joye 510 from cignot.com with manual batteries and an atomizer, it's probably the best deal for a beginner. Really try to do your research as well so you are prepared for everything that comes with the e cig (maintaince and such). The people on ECF are so helpful in any questions you have, there's also a set of videos under the New Members forum by MistressNomad which is a set of videos for "broke newbies" which was extremely helpful for me, I suggest you watch them as well! happy vaping!!

Thank you all so much for your suggestions. That was such an overwhelming response, I didn't know to expect such friendly people on here. I'm going to start doing my research and try to decide by the end of the weekend. I'll come back here with any questions, and I'll definitely post with how I make out. I'll also try to do a review for whatever site I buy from, so others can have a place to go for honest answers.

If anyone has any more suggestions, please let me know. I'm going to read through as many threads as I can, but if anyone has a few seconds to give a tip or two I'd appreciate it.

Thanks,
SD

The most recommended models are already mentioned.

I'm mostly vaping a Vapor4Life.com ecig (KR808D-1) - I am on my 5th day of refilling this carto. It began as a WOW 555 (nutty vanilla almond tobacco) and I've been refilling it with Backwoods Brew Vanilla Bean (which is lovely in a carto and an interesting addition to just about any other flavor). It's thicker than a cigarette and about 120mm long w/ standard battery. I also have some DSE901 attys - you can screw a DSE901 atty right on and use 901 carts (or drip tip if you got a manual battery which should be more sealed on the end.

I also have a 510 - I think I'll like it better with cartos. The standard batteries are much shorter life than KR8 standard (180mah vs 280mah) because the long atomizer is part of its length. But I have a mega (extra long - 280mah) 510 battery too and I think with a carto that will be about 130mm long and 510 is a bit slimmer than a KR8. That will be nice too.

Don't sweat it too much. Within a month or two you will probably own more than one! Curiosity go me to buy others.

I am still using the 7-11 only because I havn't been able to afford a better unit. On my 3rd one. Tried to buy parts for it at a local smoke shop (again in an effort to save money) Bought a new battery cause one failed, only to find out that I had bought a battery and a wall charger for a 510 same threads only internal. I need to step up 4sure.

Props to 7-11 though for at least getting me started in the right direction.
