'Care to be a bit more specific about "dog turd extract with some wonderful perfume"?
They need to steep and until they you understand this it wont mater what you mix with.
You might try clicking that 3 under my picture to the right of "Blog Entries:" as there is a section in the Flavoring Levels blog that concerns juice that smells good but tastes wrong.
But, if every flavoring tastes the same, I seriously doubt your issue is flavoring.

OK. I think I found where the foul taste (not exactly dog turd, never tried one) is coming from, or was coming from. One of the first flavors I tried was TFA Cubano since I would like to make some cigar replicas. Anyway, I used my only 1ml syringe in that flavor and after it was cleaned I used it later in the next batch using TFA M-type. To me both of these flavors are Horrible at any strength. If anyone needs to strip some furniture I have about 90ml between these two flavors you can have. I pitched the syringe as it still reeks and seems to be transferring flavor to anything it touches.
I had an idea for testing flavors and I put new cotton in my Patriot and dripped just PG/VG to wet it. Then I took a toothpick and dipped it in flavor and applied just a wipe to the cotton. This seems to work, roll the pick around and apply more for stronger flavor. Then I tried applying two flavors and found the further you dip the pick and then wipe it onto the cotton the more flavor you can transfer. At least it can give me an idea of whether or not two flavors go together or make something horrendous.
I too had problems with carryover when I first started DIY. I solved the problem by purchasing 100 1ml tb syringes (Amazon). Each of my flavors now has one attached to the bottle with a rubber band. Use, rinse, reattach.
I too have a large (4oz) bottle of TFA M-type that I bought when I first started and thought that more (of everything) was better. Haven't tried it yet but am going to one of these days, just because. I do have a full face respirator (with gas cartridges), just in case.

I have not tried TFA Cubano, so can't comment on that.
Regarding TFA M-Type: This stuff is incredibly strong. While I've seen a few people post that they use it at what are horrifying strengths (5% or more,) to me, I'd recommend trying it at 1 drop per 10ml of e-liquid. That's about 0.3% from the bottle that I got mine in. It also seems to benefit from letting the e-liquid age for quite a long time.
I've only liked it at less than the above percentage, mixed with other flavors, though. It still sits in my utility room, double-bagged, as I haven't been brave enough to try to dispose of it, for fear of the smell permeating places that I don't want it to. I've considered burying the bottle, at least two feet deep, in the woods behind my house.

M-Type is evil.
We mixed it at .5%, 1%, 2.5% and 5%...and almost died testing the .5%
We read somewhere that it could be made 'usable' by creating a dilution...using TWO DROPS in 10ml of PG or VG, so we mixed that up...and there it sits, waiting for us to gain enough strength & courage to give it a try.
We do think that it's possible, using the dilution at a small percentage, to come up with a very subtle-something that might seriously 'pop' tobaccos (and maybe other flavors), but the fact remains...

M-type needs almost a month before the nastiness goes away. Once it matures the flavor is similar to a red analog but slightly sweet.
Guys, M Type is actually a really good vape. And the others are right, its one of those tobaccos that must sit at least two weeks. At four weeks its better. Ihave one bottle nine months old and its stellar.

I have to say that these flavors from TFA are beginning to change color after a few weeks now and may need to steep longer when fresh. I'll give them another week or two and try them again with the regular steep of the juice and see if it makes a difference.
If your flavors are in dropper bottles, just use drops instead of ml measurements. If not put the flavors in dropper bottles. That way you don't get any cross contamination of flavors, and don't have to buy syringes for your flavors. I just bought several tobacco flavors myself, and they are super strong, so I diluted each flavor down about 50% also.
I don't have enough droppers for the number of flavors I have. I did buy 10 droppers for the small TFA bottles but I have 30 flavors. I solved it by buying 2 Lab Pipettors 2-10ml and 100ul to 1ml along with replaceable plastic tips. The tips are only $15 per 1000 for the 1 ml. I am building a wooden stand with a hole for the bottle to sit in and two holes for each bottle to store the tips for that flavor. I'll just rinse them out and dry with a Q-tip for the next time.
Thanks for the dilution suggestion, I'm going to try that with the TFA tobacco's and a Huckleberry flavor that can only be used at 1 drop in 10 ml. That way I can use the new pipettors to measure them out since drops sometimes vary in size.
RTS Vapes has a great cigar flavor. It's i the Chinese flavors section. Called Cohiba. It is great as a stand alone flavor. Slightly sweet even smells reminiscent of a good cigar. I mix it between 5 & 7% for kayfun or protank. Lower on a dripper.
I have some M-Type that has been marinating since Dec 2013 and it still smells horrid
