Folks,
As you can see I'm pretty new to all this. I've been vaping nothing but 50/50 e-liquid mixes to date. What would be the most significant difference I should expect to notice IF I switched to a 100% VG? Is a 100% VG thicker than 50/50 and harder to wick? Is it more flavorful, does it provide more vapor? More flavor?

What are the benefits (if any) of vaping a 100% VG e-liquid?? Why is it even available as an option?

Way thicker. More vapor. Less flavor. Less throat hit.

I seem to prefer 70vg 30pg for me.

+1 for this ratio. For me 50/50 is a bit thin. And too much PG makes me feel like I have strep throat. The PG in quality companies doesn't bother me much however.

VG = more Vapor PG = more Palate (taste) or throat hit

I like this...it really helps me overcome memory issues with "old timers" disease. I'm also going to have to try a 70 VG / 30 PG ration for a change. I've been enjoying the 50/50, but I've also noticed a difference in thickness with this ratio between companies. I've tried a bunch of different e-juices in the past month...The Vapor Chef and Ahlusions have become my top #1 & 2 so far.

I was forced to switch to 100% VG a while ago when I discovered my intolerance to PG. Now that I have I couldn't go back even if i wasn't intolerant. It makes such a sweet smooth vape, with lovely big clouds. I find chocolates and creamy flavours work best with it, almost like vaping a cream. It is much thicker and harder to wick, but once it does wick it is amazing to vape. I recommend everyone try a 100% VG blend at least once to compare.

It's available because there are people, such as myself, that have a sensitivity/allergy to pg.

Vg alone is thicker than pg, but the overall outcome of the thickness of a juice depends on who makes it. Many vendors will dilute it with something, whether it's ethyl alcohol or distilled water. I have read that vg based juice can be harder to wick but I've never experienced that myself. The only difference I've noticed since switching to pg free is a muted TH, which I prefer, and more vapor.

For many people, like myself, pg dryes us out too much; Even at 70/30..
Pg is dehydrating (desiccant), vg is hydrating (humectant).. More or less
Vg does not dry me out. I don't have to chug water all day. Theres also the naturalist, like myself, that use it because it vegetable based. There is an ajusent in your wicking that need to be made due to the thickness, and many cut it with water to thin it a little.

Off-Topic - It's nice to see other people who also can't use PG in their E-Juices.

If you have tinnitus (ringing in your ears) like I do, vaping even small amounts of PG can make it much worse. I DIY now. First I mixed 70/30 PG/VG, later 50/50, 30/70, and now with all-VG base and as many non-PG flavorings as I can.

Plain VG is thicker, but when you buy VG ready-to-vape liquids, the vendor has usually thinned it for you. If not, add distilled water to suit your equipment. Or you can add pure grain alcohol or vodka to increase the throat hit at the same time.

All VG is slightly sweet, smoother on the throat. After mixing my own recipes for a long while, I find VG does not mute the flavors, so long as it has been thoroughly mixed. So if you get all VG liquids, give 'em a thorough shake before you try them. If they're thick, set them in a cup of warm water to make them warm and thin, and shaking it will mix it more quickly.

Thanks for posting this... since it really hits home with me. I have screaming tinnitus thanks to IED detonations and other crap in Iraq...I never gave it a thought (or knew) that PG may be what's making my tinnitus worse. Holy #!@* that's interesting... I also have experienced my throat getting awful dry since I started vaping and drink fluids all the time to alleviate. I'm going to have to experiment with higher VG and 100% VG liquids.

Your post is a real eye-opener for me...it's the biggest negative I've experienced with vaping thus far, and I needed someone else to help me identify it. A huge thanks!

You've convinced me...based on the great responses I've received to this post I'm definitely going to try 100% VG. I can't believe all the things I've learned tonight with regard to dehydration and tinnitus issues. I thought it was just me... LOL

I've never used pg and don't see any reason to. Sure I could get a bit more th maybe, but the benefits of pg are far outweighed by the drying effect. Also pg accelerates vape tongue substantially. Not to mention its propylene glycol, not vegetable glycerine. A little bit less wicking and your good to go. I usually only add 3-5% water to my 100Vg DIY mixes. I use as little water as possible depending on your atty and wick setup.

Vg is awesome in the winter, keeps your sinuses nice and moist in the dry air. I worked outside this terrible winter and had no chapped lips or dry throat, actually didn't even barely use any lotion on my skin either in subzero working conditions. The only issue with vg is after long term use It can cause a little congestion from the moisture.

In high humidity environments vg can be too moisturizing. During the humid summer you can notice. 10-20% pg can adjust your juice enough to reduce the moisture in high humidity.

So really you can custom blend your juice for your climate and environment
