I just got the Uwell Crown 4 tank on Vaporesso Gen S. The 0.25ohm mesh coil is being read as 0.20ohm by my mod. It's recommended wattage is 55-75w..but vaping at 58w,its getting hot after 1 hit..
Should I be vaping at the recommended wattage for my coil or should I be vaping at the wattage recommended for the ohms that the coil is being read as by my mod?

Those wattage recommendations on a Coil-Head are just that, recommendations.

On a New Set-Up, I like to Start at Low Wattage. And then moving up maybe 5 Watts at a Time until I get a the Hit I Like Best.

So for something like that 0.25 Ohm Coil-Head, I would start at maybe 25 Watts. Then just keep Bumping it up 5 at a time.

And vaping that low of wattage won't flood my coil? Or burn it out faster than usual? I haven't been vaping long, i don't know everything about it, but I thought you were supposed to stay in recommended wattage range for the specific coil you're using..?

You should be vaping at the wattage that is right for you. Pay no mind to those recommendations (though it's usually a good idea to never exceed them). However, if your preferred wattage for that tank ends up being so low that the coil floods, then you're SOL if you don't want to bump up the wattage to where it stops flooding.

I have a Vaporesso NRG tank with a 0.15 ohm coil (rated for 50-100 watts) I like it at 45 watts (it's a dual mesh "coil") In fact, I just came in from vaping it a minute ago. I have an e-leaf tank with a coil rated for 30-80 watts... I like it at 38 watts. Also (as mentioned) it really helps to break in a new coil lower and slowly increase power.

It depends on the coils. Today's modern subohm, cloud-chaser coil heads can go amazingly low before they flood. I always disbelieved people when they said they vaped 12W on a baby beast style of coil without flooding until I tried it myself. Coil heads have come a long way from 5+ years ago.

It might Flood slightly. And or it might give you a Weak Hit. But you just Up the Wattage 5 Watts and take another Hit. And if that hit is still Weak, then Repeat.

Think of it like listening to Music.

If I came over and said I had this Great CD, lets listen to it. Would you set the Volume of your Stereo to 8 and then pop the CD in?

Of Course Not. You would turn the Volume Down and when the Music started to play, you'd Turn it Up until it sounded right.

If you start with a Low Wattage, you will Never Burn Burn Out a Coil on the 1st couple of Hits. But if you Start with a High Wattage, those 1st couple of Hits could Toast the Coil.

BTW - I have some 0.35 Coil-Heads that I think the Recommendation is 25 ~ 35 Watts. I use them at 18.5 Watts. Because that's what Tastes the Best (to Me).

BTW2 - Vaping at a Lower Wattage will Extend the Life of a Coil verses Vaping the Same Coil at a Higher Wattage.

Another thing that's never mentioned here is efficiency. Different coils having the same impedance (ohms) can require very different amounts of power to drive them. The only way to safely find out how much power you need is to start very low and slowly move up.

Someone earlier in this thread suggested moving up in five watt increments. With a new coil I usually move up POINT five watts at a time.

5 hundredths of an ohm shouldn't make that big of a difference. One of my regulated mods reads the tank I'm using now as 1.78 ohms, another mod reads it as 1.80 ohms. I make sure whatever mod (and tank) I'm using has clean connections, and although I have both mods set to the same power output, I'd be much more confident in what my mod says it reads than what the manufacturer states on the label.

Actually, now that I've thought about some more, a .05 difference might make a noticeable difference in a low ohm (or sub ohm) coil.. I've never made a coil less than 1.3ish ohms, although once I installed a pre-made coil rated at .5 ohms. Not my cup of tea..
