Has anyone ever tried to use cotton wick on a RSST or AGA T2? Or any genesis style atomizer.

If so, how did that work out for you and how do you like it?

I kinda don't feel comfortable using SS mesh as I don't know the potential health hazards for long periods of inhaling.

Pictures of your setup would be appreciated as well.

I use silica wick as I haven't had a successful ss mesh build, but I just got some 400 mesh in the mail and hope I can get it to work.
My wick builds have been pretty successful though and doesn't really bother me...although I am a bit anxious to try a good mesh build. Just for the challenge /experience to see if I'm missing out on something.

I use something similar to Rip Tripper, except I use a horizontal coil in my AGI.
Works awesome!

Does your cotton go into the wick hole? Fill hole plugged or unplugged and do you have issues with leaking when it's on its side? I have a great ss mesh build on mine right now but want to experiment a little.

Yes, cotton goes into the wick hole but just enough so that it isn't in the tank. I don't use the fill plug and don't leave the mod on its side for long, but any leakage from normal carry usually gets soaked up by the wick that is laying on the deck.
It takes about 3 minutes total to set up and it tastes better than mesh, IMO.
Worth a shot!

Wait why wouldn't you have it long enough to sit in the tank? Is something wrong with it sitting in the tank?

Since I use loose cotton rolled into a wick, it can pull apart fairly easily. The one time I hung it into the tank and tried to pull it out to rewick, a piece came off in the tank. Really there is no need to have it in the tank since I vape with the mod pretty much horizontal anyways. Never had a problem with dry hits.

I use cotton yarn with a horizontal coil leaving a couple extra inches in the tank. When it gets gunked, pull the wick out of the coil, dry burn the coil, cut 1/2" off the wick, slide it back in, tuck the loose end into the fill hole. But that's also because I lost the fill hole plug...

Contrary to minimalsaint, I do put my cotton wick down into the tank. I haven't had any troubles getting them out of there (yet). So far, so good, I'm really loving the flavor. I find that SS mesh can really distort flavors on some of my juices, especially the complex, bakery type ones I'm so fond of (I'm a huge five pawns fan ;). Cotton has solved that problem for me, thus far.

What I do for this setup is wrap my coil around a drill bit, appropriately sized to just barely fit down into the wick hole on the AGA-T2. In this case, it's just a hair over 3/32" ( I think it's a #39). Wrap the coil tight on the bit, space it out, then place the drill bit into the wick hole (with the coil still on it) and install the coil. Fix for even-ness, and then carefully remove the bit. Voila, perfect coil, and plenty of room to slip a cotton wick in there.

This is intriguing (sp?)... That's my one grip with yarn in my RSST. If I happen to burn it, or get it stuck somehow, you usually have to take it apart to feed it back through. I've been seeing a lot of mention of the horizontal coil. Gonna try that tonight. Easily refeedable! :) As long as you don't drop the yarn in the tank...

How I do my rsst. I wrap on a drill bit first but when doing a horizontal coil, I hold the bit horizontally and start my first wrap under the bit. This puts the negative leg on the bottom of the coil and the pos leg coming off the top. I place my coil almost right over the neg screw, this keeps the wick hole unobstructed so I can easily drop yarn into the tank then put the loose end thru the coil. I could post a pic later if needed.

I used to do the same with cotton candle wick and it worked really well, but it ended up being a huge PITA to pull the wick out of the coil, dry burn and then try to rewick without jacking the coil. I vape NETs so I need to dry burn at least every day and my fumbly fingers were trashing the coils. With the method I use now, I just burn through the cotton, pull the ends out and throw a new piece in.

Look at all those coils! Nice work! What resistance is that build?

Thank you. The resistance of the coil in the DID is 2Ω The one in the RSST was around 1.8Ω. I've since took it out and put mesh in it. I prefer a mesh build at .8Ω on a mech but a micro with cotton on a provari is good too. I can't run .8 with mesh in a provari though. I change my builds around quite often.
