Does the pga affect the flavor of the Juice you may be using? So, I could use any alcohol to thin with - if I don't care about a little flavor change? Reason for asking, I have a little high nic juice that I wouldn't mind cutting down abit. Also, is everclear the same as pga, or does pga refer to a different alcohol?

Since it's USP it meets guidelines for food, but who knows about inhalation?

I'm the Pharmacist who wrote the sticky on PG/VG labeling/safety. USP is actually Pharamceutical grade(which is more highly regulated and, in general, made to higher standard/specifications than food grade(FCC) product). As my sticky mentions, it is the best and purest grade that the typical consumer can purchase & is the same grade used in manufacture or compounding of pharamceuticals(oral liquids, dermatalogical preps, inhalers, nebulizer solutions, IV solutions, etc...). Although glycerin, USP is the best choice commercially available, remember(again mentioned in my sticky) there are still no peer-reviewed clinical studies that deal with the safety of inhalation of Glycerin(or PG), USP at the concentrations & continuous, repetitive daily dosing regimen associated with vaping and e-cig use in general.

Yes, sorry, wasn't thinking clearly. I certainly get the difference.

I assume USP indicates sufficient quality for a particular use (oral solution vs. inhaler, for example). What doe the USP designation for glycerine indicate it is appropriate for? I understand your point about there being no accepted research about the level of use we see with vaping... just wondering what the applications are to which these quality standards are applied? Topical, oral, inhalation?

I wondered myself. Anhydrous simply indicates that no water is present. That .5% impurity could be any artifact of the manufacturing process. Since it's USP it meets guidelines for food, but who knows about inhalation?

Anyway, I've been using it since I started vaping, and haven't keeled over yet. Which means nothing. ;-)

USP does not indicate food safe. USP indicates that it meets United States Pharmacopeia guidelines of ingredients and manufacturing for the stated intended use of the product. So what this means is if the label doesnt say it is for human consumption or FDA(food and drug administration) approved then I wouldn't vape it. If you go a little deeper in walmart to the craft section you will find Wilton vg which is FDA approved for human consumption and 100% glycerine no .5% mystery vape, bottle is a bit smaller but the price is about the same

Dude since when did the FCC ( federal communications commission ) have anything to do with human comsumption of anything besides boring radio... A pharmicist would know this....this is all new to everyone and we have a great responsibility to everyone who is looking for info to make sure they get the best, most accurate and safest info possible if it makes you feel better and safer about the choices you make to read them on a computer screen then put them in word and read them later while you are alone this way you only hurt yourself. By the way food grade is FDA

USP just means that it is safe to use as the label instructs and that is all the testing that has been done any other use than directed is AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! People please be safe and think or do the research we only have one shot at this life.....

I believe he was referring to the Food Chemicals Codex.

I laugh.

But then again I often laugh when someone is really sticking their foot all the way down the back of their throat.

You may want to do a bit more research before you continue this line of misinformation. Markarich159 is very correct.
