Urine scent to e-liquid vapor?

So I'm vaping in the car on the way to a family dinner and my wife and son say "what's that smell"? They came to the conclusion it was the Virginia fire cured e-liquid I was vaping at the time. I myself can't smell it, and I can't imagine the flavor I get from it is like urine, but I can't say for sure I guess because I've never drank urine. Has anyone else experienced anything like this, or a similar situation? Normally they love the smell of the vapor my e-liquids produce.

I've heard that some juices do smell like that,,,,,,,haven't had that problem myself (although one of mine smells like real cigarette smoke, I swear!), but I've heard it from several people.

Dang, that's gross. I wouldn't vape it anymore. None of my juice smells like pee. And I definitely wouldn't want my woman to think my mouth smells or tastes like it.

My wife recently told me that the Green Peach Tea I was vaping smelled like urine. She didn't want me anywhere around her while vaping it. It's a shame because I happen to like that juice a lot.

Never had that issue myself, and my girlfriend seems to point out every smell I produce from e-cigs. She's super supportive, but loves to point out the stinkys and I've tried many so I trust her judgement. lol.

My cola flavor doesn't smell so good when it's exhaled, .. but other blends like berry or dragon's blood smell awesome.

The only stinky juice I've tried is Halo Bella Valente. I remember reading a thread where someone's wife thought it smelled like "homeless guy". Personally, I think it smells a lot like smoke and matches.

It is more likely that your urine and sweat smell like your e-juice and the connection derived is reversed.

My Dekang Red USA Mix had distinct ammonia/urine smell. Still wonder if it was fake or it's really supposed to smell like that.

To me, many cigars have a cat urine type odor to them. I believe if it's an extracted tobacco, or possibly even a manufactured one, that smell may come through as it's vaped. I have a couple of juices that smell like this to me.

The wife factor is big for me too since I vape in the house and car. Anything that she doesn't like the smell of, I don't vape.

This is just horrible. So far people have said mine smell good. Especially Maholu WTA from Aroma. Always gets a compliment. Hope this thread gets lots of posts of any horrible smelling vape flavors. What a drag

Very likely what you're smelling is p-mentha-8-thiol-3-one which is a byproduct of fermentation and a sulfur compound. Our juices contain a variety of organic extracts that can, when the timing and quantity is just right, bring this compound to smell a bit like pee. In weaker concentrations it can lend an herbal quality to substance. In greater concentrations it can be perceived as fruity. That said, I can assure you that your juice is fine and a longer (or shorter) steeping time may correct this if it is unpleasant to you. If your pee smells sweet like honey, that's a different story altogether. That is an indication of diabetes and you should get checked out by your physician.

Hm.. I forgot what I was vaping at the time, but I was in the car with my boyfriend, vaping away while he was driving, and normally he doesn't care as long as I crack a window so all the clouds don't get in his face (it seems to leave a cloudy film over the windshield over time as well!), but he's mentioned to me a few times that some of my juices smell like !@#$. I've heard him describe it as rotting feet and stale .... crack before so... I dunno lol

I had a juice that was suppose to be Sweet Virginia that tasted like pee smells. Down my drain it went. Luckily it was a free sample ..

I can't smell my juice either, but when at my mom's house, she thinks my Highbrow Tabac de Perique smells like popcorn, and it makes her hungry. I've vaped some ECBlend Orange, but she hasn't commented on it.

My wife told me the green tea one smells like gym socks ... it's too bad cause it taste great.
